If Perception Were Reality

ESPN.com conducted a poll and asked their readers which sport they thought was more adversely effected by performance enhancing drugs; baseball, cycling or track and field?  After 16,755 votes, only 16% of respondents thought cycling was more effected.  Surprising?  Probably not considering most ESPN readers probably come to the site to read about baseball and not cycling.  Ask the same question on Velonews or Cycling News and you’d probably see an exact opposite in percentages.

But what does this tell us?  If perception were reality, we need to do a whole hell of a lot more to clean up our sport and make sure we fall well below 16% next time the poll is taken.
